About the Sessions
Try a free discovery session
Your initial discovery session is always free of charge and will give you the opportunity to see if you feel we are a good match and that you feel comfortable. Also, if you have never spoken to a counselor or coach before, an initial discovery session is a good way to gain some understanding of what it would mean for you. During this 45-minute session, I will invite you to tell me your story. Also what you would like to achieve. I will respond with respect and empathy.
If you decide you would like to continue, we will discuss practical details such as frequency and estimated number of sessions. You will also receive a copy of my counseling/coaching agreement. And there is of course plenty of room for your questions.
While we work toward achieving your goal, my approach will be empathic, accepting and non-judgmental. I will listen to you and help you reflect on your beliefs, feelings and what you do. Sometimes what we believe about ourselves, or others, limits us. Once you start to examine what you believe and how this makes you feel, new perspectives will emerge bringing you closer to your goal.
I use a strongly person-centred approach (a form of talk therapy) along with techniques from other fields such as cognitive behavioural, solution focused and psychodynamic.
Your feedback is important as it helps ensure we stay on the right path.
If at any time I feel I do not have the specific experience or competences to help you, I shall discuss this with you and refer you to the appropriate specialist sources.
Important to know
As a member of the Dutch association for professional coaches (NOBCO) I also enjoy membership of the European Mentoring & Coaching Council (EMCC). Coaching session out walking
Research has shown that a walk in the countryside has a strong impact on our state of mind. It can help us feel less stressed, happier and better able to see things from a different perspective. I live in a rural area of the province of Flevoland in the delightful wooded area of Almeerderhout. This means I can easily offer clients the option of a country walk as an alternative to a session indoors. Just let me know if this is what you would like.
